How to use iLok Cloud authorisation

iLok Cloud lets you activate your software licences by syncing them to your iLok account over the internet.

All up to date Sonnox plugin licences are iLok Cloud compatible, with the exception of our Live Bundle for VENUE.

NB: An active internet connection is required at times while iLok Cloud licences are in use. 

Getting Started with your Sonnox licence and iLok Cloud

1. Ensure the plug-in supports it - (look for the iLok Cloud icon in your iLok License Manager app).

2. Open a Cloud session by signing into iLok Licence Manager and going to File/Open Cloud Session

Automatic vs. Managed Mode

1. Automatic Mode (Default setting) 

• iLok Cloud compatible Sonnox licences are automatically uploaded to iLok Cloud when you sign into your iLok account.

Pros 

• Good for quick setups or when switching frequently between devices.
• Good for keeping automatic backups of your licences in the event of a physical location failure (e.g. lost/broken iLok USB, inaccessible machines)

Cons

• Default automatic mode can cause confusion for users who wish to keep track of licences.

2. Managed Mode

• The user manually chooses which licenses are activated in the Cloud.

• Works similarly to a physical location - e.g. iLok USB, iLok Machine auth

Pros 

• More control over where your licenses are kept and what’s accessible in the Cloud.
• Good for keeping backups of your licences in the event of a physical location failure (e.g. lost/broken iLok USB, inaccessible machines)

Cons

• Not available initially. Needs to be changed from automatic in iLok Licence Manager preferences.

Which Mode Should I Choose?

• Use Automatic Mode if you prefer convenience.

• Choose Managed Mode for more flexibility and control over your licenses.
