Sonnox Plugin Recall Issues in Magix Hosts – What You Need to Know

Modified on Thu, 31 Jul at 11:06 AM

Some Magix DAWs, including Sequoia, Samplitude, Music Studio, and Sound Forge, do not yet fully support the VST3 Bundle structure or plug‑in name changes introduced in recent Sonnox updates for Windows.
While your Sonnox plug‑ins will still load and work, Magix hosts may treat updated versions as new plug‑ins, preventing automatic recall of settings from previous versions.

Background

As part of our work to future‑proof Sonnox plug‑ins and improve performance on Windows, we recently made two major changes to our VST3 plug‑in packaging:

  1. VST3 Bundle Format

    • Replaced single VST3 files with a structured VST3 Bundle folder format.

    • This aligns with Steinberg’s best practices and allows faster scanning in most DAWs.

  2. Name Consistency Changes

    • Removed the “Native” suffix from Oxford Elite‑series plug‑in names for consistency across macOS and Windows.

Impact in Magix Hosts

  • Magix DAWs may identify updated Sonnox plug‑ins as different plug‑ins from previous versions.

  • This can prevent automatic session recall of your previous plug‑in settings.

  • You may need to manually re‑insert plug‑ins and re‑load saved presets if working on existing projects.

Affected Products

  • Oxford Inflator

  • Oxford Dynamic EQ

  • Oxford Envolution

  • Oxford Limiter

  • Oxford Transmod

  • Toolbox Claro

  • Toolbox VoxDoubler

Current Status

  • Sonnox is in contact with Magix to resolve these compatibility issues.

  • We will provide updates as soon as Magix adds full support for VST3 Bundles and recognises the updated plug‑in names.

Workaround for Existing Projects

If you need full recall compatibility with older projects in Magix DAWs:

  1. Use Previous Versions

    • Re‑install the previous (pre‑update) versions of your affected Sonnox plug‑ins.

    • This ensures Magix will recognise them as the same plug‑ins used in older projects.

  2. Accessing Older Installers

    • Previous versions are available via our [Legacy Installer Request Form] or by contacting Sonnox Support.

  3. Save & Reload Presets

    • If using updated plug‑ins, manually save your settings as user presets before updating.

    • You can then re‑apply these settings to the updated versions in Magix.
